Legal Account Manager – Asset Finance

James George Recruitment are seeking a Legal Account Manager to join a highly prestigious Asset Finance House based in Surrey.

Reporting directly to the Recoveries Team Leader, you will predominantly be focused on Litigation arrears collection in the Recoveries team.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage a portfolio of Litigation cases over the varying sectors within the Recoveries function.
• Work with their Solicitors, Suppliers, and Broker partners to bring a positive impact to the collections process and maximize their recoveries.
• Utilising the legal system with the support from their Solicitors to make a recovery whilst managing costs to the business
• Arranging sustainable repayment plans through effective evaluation of income and expenditure with customers.
• Carrying out financial checks on customers such as Land Reg, CAIS, Business IQ Reports.
• To review contractual documents and terms & conditions to identify information that can add value to the recovery process.
• Take responsibility for managing occasional project and development work in the team to a high standard and within deadlines.  
• Understand the importance of identifying vulnerable customers and how they should be treated differently from a strategy perspective.
• Responsible for completion of the collection and recovery process to minimize risk, prevent arrears and ensure the timely collection of payments.
• Liaise with Asset Management to obtain valuations on delinquent accounts, ensure these are recorded and information used to make informative and balanced decisions
• Review cases for bad debt provision recommendation, completing necessary paperwork for Head of Collection
• Strategically review accounts where recovery is unlikely or not cost-effective make recommendation for write off
• Liaise with Recoveries Team Leader on serious delinquencies and help to minimize losses

Your Background:

• You will be able to manage legal cases with external Lawyers and potentially have experience of issuing your own claims directly with the Courts.
• Collection’s experience ideal.
• Knowledge of contract and consumer credit.
• Asset Finance or Motor Finance background
• Strong negotiator and decision maker.
